In line with the implementation of Republic Act No. 9417 (An Act to Strengthen the Office of the Solicitor General by Expanding and Streamlining its Bureaucracy, Upgrading Employees Skills, and Augmenting Benefits, and Appropriating Funds Therefor and for Other Purposes), OSG now opens to interested applicants – lawyers and even non-lawyers – over 200 vacant positions.

            Prior to R.A. No. 9417, there are only 466 plantilla positions in the OSG. With the law, positions were upgraded and are increased into almost a thousand. Because of the expansion, the OSG will also be reorganized. The current 17 legal divisions would be increased into thirty (30). OSG would also have four (4) Services, namely: Financial Management Service, Docket Management Service, Case Management Service, and Human Resource Management Service composed of necessary divisions and sections. There would also be planning and internal audit units. And these would all require additional manpower.

            Last 06 October 2008, the Department of Budget and Management transmitted to OSG the Notice of Organizational Staffing and Compensation Action (NOSCA), which now allows the office to fill in its vacant positions. After the required date of publication of these items (07 October 2008 to 20 October 2008) the OSG would now start the process of hiring.
