DFA’s passport project reaches OSG

A hassle-free passport application for OSG employees.

Instead of going to the main office of the DFA or its satellite offices to apply for a passport or having a travel agency to do the whole thing for you for a cost, DFA’s mobile passporting project made the whole process easier and more convenient for passport applicants.

And OSG was lucky enough to be visited by DFA’s mobile passport service team to process passport applications of not only employees of OSG but even their spouse, unmarried children and other immediate relatives.

In the letter of DFA Secretary Alberto Romulo last 29 May 2008, he informed OSG about the DFA’s Machine Readable Passport Project. Under this project, the Foreign Affairs department, through its DFA Mobile Passport Service Team will conduct mobile passport service to other government agencies in order to provide the public sector with an opportunity to apply passports in their places of work.

Last 08 July 2008 and 20 August 2008 the Team from DFA headed by Mr. Donald Rodel E. Fermin and Mr. Rodolfo A. Gaspar of the Courtesy Lane went to OSG and processed 110 and 137 passport applications, respectively.

The passports were released seven days after the team visited the office and processed their application. It was also the DFA team who delivered the processed passports to the OSG.

According to the OSG employees, this service made their passport application easier and more convenient since they need not to go to DFA anymore considering that they go to office everyday.

The remaining problem, according to them, is “where they will travel” now that they have their passports ready.  (By: Michael Joey Dacanay, OSG Web Team)
